All students, except those coming from EU countries, wishing to study in Italy for more than 90 days up to 1 year are required to apply for a Study Visa.
AI Milan can provide a certificate of registration after receiving confirmation of payment for the whole course as required by law. To obtain a Study Visa, you must present yourself in person to the Italian Consulate in your Country which will provide you with a list of the necessary application documents.We recommend students to apply for a multiple-entry Schengen Visa if possible. Usually the required documents are:
1. Passport valid at least 4 months over the planned stay in Italy
2. Airline reservation or return tickets
3. One passport size photograph
4. Certificate of Residence or equivalent
5. A certificate of enrolment from Accademia di Italiano describing the course booked and that it has been pre-paid in full in advance, the duration with starting and ending dates, and the complete accommodation address in Italy. The course must feature 80 lessons per each month of stay in Italy (please check one of our
long term courses)
6. Evidence of the existence of a suitable accmmodation in Italy for the duration of the stay (AI offers its students an efficient accommodation service) including a hospitality declaration signed by the host person with copy of his/her ID document
7. Economic Security equivalent to a minimum of Euro 800.00 per month of stay (photocopies of a credit card, your or your parents' bank statement of account, a bank guarantee or a letter of financial means of support)
8. Proof of an International Health Insurance
Once in Italy all foreigners, including EU citizens, will have to apply for a "Permesso di Soggiorno" (Permit of Stay) in order to reside in Italy for more than 3 months. The application must be done at a Post Office within 8 days of arrival.
